Clinical Nurse Practice Specialist - Emergency Department

Position Overview: The RN Clinical Nurse Practice Specialist (CNPS) supports the Emergency Department by applying advanced clinical expertise, conducting assessments, and promoting evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes, staff development, and organizational quality. They serve as educators, consultants, and leaders in clinical practice, fostering a culture of inquiry and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Provide clinical expertise, assess staff education needs, support care plan development, and evaluate practice outcomes.Lead quality initiatives, identify improvement opportunities, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.Develop and deliver nursing education, including competency programs, simulation, and professional development activities.Mentor and coach staff, promote evidence-based practice, and support research and innovation projects.Participate in policy development, interdisciplinary collaboration, and organizational committees.Foster a positive work environment, demonstrate leadership, and advocate for nursing excellence. Qualifications & Skills Master's Degree in Nursing required; Doctorate preferred.Minimum 5+ years of clinical experience in a hospital or academic setting.Current Illinois RN license, BLS certification, and specialty certification (ACLS preferred).Strong communication, interpersonal, presentation, and leadership skills.Ability to engage with diverse audiences, collaborate effectively, and promote professional growth.
