About the role

The Clinical Nurse Specialist - Emergency Department at Luminis Health is a highly collaborative role that involves developing, coordinating, and overseeing holistic care plans for patients. You will work closely with colleagues, patients, and their families to assess needs and determine the best course of action, and interact with various areas of the hospital system.

Responsibilities

• Provides expertise and support to nurses caring for patients at the bedside.
• Demonstrates expert clinical knowledge and skill in Critical Care Nursing.
• Models expert practice to peers, inter-professional team members, health care consumers, and learners.
• Collaborates with department/unit directors, inter-professional clinical leaders, clinical educators, and ICU/CVICU staff to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate processes, clinical education, and staff performance.
• Affords ongoing competencies for ICU and CVICU staff based on practice competency gaps, new skills requirements, changes in process or procedure, and quality improvement and process improvement data.
• Promotes the development of ICU and CVICU nurses by offering a variety of learning opportunities planned for nurses in different stages of the Novice to the Expert continuum.
• Assesses the need, quality, and cost-effective educational programs for staff.
• Seeks experiences to develop, maintain, and improve competence in nursing professional development.
• Helps drive practice changes with collaborative partnerships.
• Provides professional support to internal and external customers during the implementation of new products and change initiatives.
• Scans the environment for trends and issues that require change, collaboratively creates, implements, and assists in maintaining change.
• Participates in ICU and CVICU specific and hospital-wide quality improvement activities and actively participates in the activities of the Clinical Education Council.
• Ensures the use of best practices and evidence-based care.
• Recommends practice changes.
• Disseminates research findings through educational programs, courses, and other activities.
• Promotes, encourages, facilitates, conducts, and participates in research, evidence-based practice (EBP), and quality improvement (QI) activities.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Nursing
• Doctoral Degree (DNP or PhD) preferred
• Five years as a Registered Nurse in a Critical Care Setting

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a registered nurse by the Maryland Board of Nursing.
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS.
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider ACLS.
• Clinical Nurse Specialist Board certification as required by the Maryland Board of Nursing.
• Maintains membership to professional organizations.
• Adheres to credentialing requirements of AAMC as stated in the nursing bylaws.

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Full-time schedule is typically 40 hours per week.
