About the role
The Clinical Nurse at Northwestern Medicine plays a crucial role in providing and coordinating high-quality, evidence-based care. They are accountable for developing an individualized nursing plan of care based on the nursing process, advocating for patient safety, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to achieve exceptional outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Advocate: Practices patient-centered care, identifies and resolves conflicts, protects patient rights and safety, and communicates effectively with patients, families, and staff.
- Clinical Expert: Continuously updates clinical knowledge, shares expertise, and collaborates with peers to enhance patient care.
- Community Volunteer: Participates in volunteer activities annually and serves as a mentor and preceptor.
- Compassionate: Demonstrates empathy, actively addresses patient concerns, and maintains a caring demeanor.
- Professionally Engaged: Engages in professional organizations, committees, and tasks, and supports innovation and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an NLN-accredited nursing program
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or higher
- Current Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a specific clinical area
- Nursing specialty certification, if eligible
