Clinical Nurse - GI/GU

About the role

This position is for a Clinical Nurse specializing in GI/GU Surgery. The nurse provides direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, within established standards of nursing practice. The role involves caring for a diverse patient population with complex surgical conditions, including colorectal, urologic, oncologic, and reconstructive procedures. The unit emphasizes evidence-based practices like ERAS to improve outcomes and offers a supportive environment for professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Promote patient and family-centered care, educating on illness management, post-treatment care, and medication administration.
• Participate in safety, quality, and regulatory activities, and engage in professional development.
• Develop, implement, and document individualized care plans collaboratively with the healthcare team, patients, and families.
• Assess physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, considering patient preferences, values, and cultural considerations.
• Work safely in a safety-sensitive environment, maintaining alertness and adherence to protocols.

Qualifications

• Education: Nursing Diploma/Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's preferred.
• Licenses & Certifications: RN license required.
• Experience: No prior experience necessary; 2+ years preferred for advanced roles.

Schedule

Full-time day shifts, three 12-hour shifts per week.
