Clinical Nurse Educator-NICU

Full-time position, benefits eligible, 40 hours per week. Primarily dayshift with some nights and weekend coverage required as educational needs arise.

Pay

$41.10 - $61.65 per hour.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with a BSN.
• Three years' experience in area of interest.
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the applicable state.
• National certification in specialty required within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Teaches and demonstrates proficiency in patient physical assessment skills, patient care, and nursing skills (e.g., mobility, respiratory care, nutrition, pain management, oral care, preventing infection, lift equipment).
• Reinforces policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines with nursing staff.
• Coordinates nursing-centered rounds and bedside reporting in conjunction with the Nurse Manager/Case Manager, with the ability to phase in multidisciplinary rounds.
• Provides population-specific unit educational programs in collaboration with preceptors and staff development instructors in informal, on-site settings.
• Ensures the quality of professional services by demonstrating and maintaining competency through updating knowledge and skills and continuing professional growth.
• Communicates effectively, positively, and professionally, role-modeling behaviors associated with Caring Science.
• Creates and maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, co-workers, and facility, including assisting in teaching interpretation of and developing strategies to address nurse-sensitive indicators and performance improvement.
• Supports provision of age/developmentally appropriate patient care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.
• Ensures nurses are educated to assess and identify patient care needs for the assigned patient population. Education is provided based on unit/patient needs and includes skill-based competency, equipment use expertise, and/or clinical assessment competency.
• Collaborates with all healthcare providers to enhance staff education and competency in managing cost-effective and clinically effective complex patient and family care.
