Clinical Nurse Educator - Main OR (CLIN NURSE EDUC 3)

About the role

Clinical Nurse Educators are registered nurses who apply theory and practice in the operating room. They possess broad job knowledge and are responsible for designing and providing education, training, and consultation to operating room staff.

Responsibilities

• Create and provide education, orientation, and training to operating room staff.
• Disseminate information and assist with nursing research projects within the department.
• Design and develop curricula, teach individuals, and develop staff competency.
• Create instructional content and train students in the Operating Room Training Program.
• Write and review unit policy and procedures.
• Utilize medical and surgical terminology appropriately.
• Analyze problems and determine solutions.
• Manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities.
• Convey complex clinical information clearly and concisely.
• Manage multiple concurrent tasks.

Requirements

• Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction.
• CNOR Certification upon hire.
• American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Master’s Degree in Nursing.
• Six (6) years’ of Clinical Operating Room Nurse Experience.
• Three (3) years’ experience in the Scrub Nurse role.
• Three (3) years’ experience as a preceptor, or other demonstrated experience as a nurse educator.
• Knowledge of professional standards, practices, and guidelines.
• Knowledge of legal implications in clinical practice and documentation.
• Basic computer skills including the electronic medical / health record.
• Thorough knowledge of methodology for conducting evidence-based research, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Effective oral communication skills.
