About the role

The professional nurse at Jefferson Health uses the nursing process to address the physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs of diverse patients. Responsibilities

  • Interacts with co-workers, patients, and their designated care partners in a way that respects and collaborates with each individual.
  • Integrates evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, and patients' preferences and cultural beliefs to deliver optimal healthcare.
  • Partners with patients and their designated care partners to identify learning needs and educates them about their health and treatment.
  • Administers medications correctly and prescribes drugs for ongoing treatment, ensuring patient safety.
  • Develops discharge plans with patients and their designated care partners, coordinating follow-up care.
  • Affirms patients' personal preferences, priorities, and needs, and respects their cultural beliefs and values.
  • Fosters an inclusive environment where patients feel valued and included, resolving conflicts and problems effectively.
  • Acts as a preceptor for appropriate staff members, actively participating in hospital and practice setting committees, and seeking opportunities for professional growth.
  • Communicates effectively using the language of partnership, engages patients and families in their health care, and delegates tasks appropriately.
  • Monitors and improves patient care processes using data, and implements improvements to ensure high-quality, safe care.

Requirements

Specialized Diploma Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Knowledge of patient-and family-centered care, cultural awareness, effective communication, patient assessment and care, medication administration, discharge planning, assessment and diagnosis, and health information documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree BSN or completion of BSN or appropriate advanced degree within 3 years of hire strongly preferred.
  • One year previous experience as an RN in an acute care setting preferred.

Skills

Knowledge of various medications, tools and techniques for patient assessment and nursing diagnosis, ability to record medical histories, symptoms, vital signs, medications, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, and medical results.
