Stroke response times are nearly half of the national average. Cutting‑edge SPOT Technology detects sepsis earlier than the human eye. An Enhanced Surgical Recovery program reduces opioid prescriptions and post‑surgical readmissions. As a national learning health system, we are transforming care delivery, advancing clinical outcomes, and empowering our nursing teams in a collaborative effort to give people a healthier tomorrow.

Methodist Hospital, opened in 1963 as the first hospital in the South Texas Medical Center, now has over 900 beds and offers a broad range of specialties, including cardiology, oncology, bone marrow transplants, emergency medicine, neurosciences, maternity care, gynecology, and orthopedics. We are the largest provider of the lifesaving ECMO program in San Antonio, home to the world’s largest robotics program, and the first North American adult blood cancer and stem cell transplant unit to receive FACT accreditation. Our hospital has earned a Primary Stroke Center designation from The Joint Commission, a Comprehensive Stroke Center certification from DNV GL Healthcare, and was named the No. 1 Best Regional Hospital by U.S. News & World Report for 2019‑20.
