Clinical Nurse Coordinator Emergency Room
About the role
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) at St. David's North Austin Medical Center plays a pivotal role in ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care and coordinating all functions in the unit/department during the designated shift. Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the CNC collaborates with other members of the management team to direct, monitor, and evaluate nursing care, serving as a resource person for staff and modeling a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values.
Responsibilities
- Assists with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centered care.
- Participates in the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team.
- Collaborates with subject matter experts and other managers to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service.
- Serves as a patient advocate, engaging in service recovery when necessary.
- Supports the implementation of nursing strategies, including employee rounding, hourly rounds, and other initiatives.
- Provides recommendations related to interviewing, selecting, and training new staff.
- Recommends and implements courses of action, including training and development, conflict resolution, personnel policy compliance, completion of performance evaluations, and/or disciplinary actions to ensure a competitively better organization.
- Aids in staff scheduling, managing all practical aspects of staff labor in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines.
- Manages inventory control and assists with managing supplies and equipment.
Qualifications
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- National Institutes of Health (NIH) Stroke Scale
- (RN) Registered Nurse
- Associate Degree
- Advanced Trauma Care for Nurse, or Trauma Nursing Core Course
- 1 years experience required
Skills
Strong communication skills, ability to collaborate effectively, and a commitment to patient-centered care are essential. Proficiency in relevant certifications and a demonstrated track record of leadership and teamwork are also highly valued.
