Clinical Mentor (RN) Emergency Room (ER)

Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is looking for an experienced RN Clinical Mentor to work with the Emergency Department (ED). Responsibilities

• Develop expertise in training, coaching and mentoring staff through the promotion and delivery of high‑quality nursing care.
• Orient, educate and develop nursing staff to ensure competence and ability to fulfill specified responsibilities.
• Provide support to novice and advanced nurses and preceptors to ensure a smooth transition into practice and the work environment.
• Integrate knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the clinical and social adjustment needs of all team members.
• Participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of educational programs to promote clinical development and career progression from novice to proficient nurse for new or existing clinicians.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
• Experience: 2 years of progressive experience in nursing in the designated specialty; 3 months of experience serving as a preceptor
• Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi‑state RN License

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of Emergency Department experience
• Pediatric Emergency Department experience
