Responsibilities
- Assist physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment under direct supervision.
- Promote efficient patient flow and patient care, including exams and procedures.
- Perform clinic support tasks such as clerical duties, answering phones, and maintaining physicians' schedules.
- Support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
- Act as a team lead by answering questions, directing workflow, and leading on the clinic floor.
- Train new clinic employees as appropriate.
- Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms.
- Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Obtain necessary patient records as required by the physician prior to treatment or procedures.
- Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
- Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
- Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
- Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
- Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician, nurse, or pharmacist.
- Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
- Inform physician of patient reschedules and no-shows.
- Perform other administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, and reception as requested.
Requirements
Medical Assistant:
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
- Current CPR Certification (required).
- Current Certified MA or Registered MA (preferred).
- 2-3 years of experience; outpatient surgery experience is helpful.
Clinical Assistant:
- Current CPR Certification (required).
- 2-3 years of experience; outpatient surgery experience is helpful.
- One of the following is required:
- Diploma or equivalent from an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with 1 year of direct care experience.
Physical Demands
- Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
- Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Work Environment
- Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment may occur.
Pay
$21.50 - $30.00/hour
