Overview

Anne Arundel Dermatology is seeking a Medical Assistant to join their outpatient dermatology clinic in Knoxville, TN, at Knoxville Dermatology Group.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients, verify patient information, and obtain vital signs
  • Absorb and prepare procedure trays, instruments, and equipment
  • Absorb and administer injections and assist with patient treatments
  • Collect and process lab/pathology specimens
  • Educate patients on treatment plans and wound care
  • Maintain inventory, supplies, and equipment sterilization
  • Document patient care accurately in the EMR
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards
  • Support clinic workflow and complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting
  • Ability to obtain vital signs and administer injections
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT/ICD-10 coding, and EMR systems
  • Understanding of HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control protocols
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Willingness to travel to satellite offices as needed
  • Previous experience in Dermatology is preferred

Requirements

  • Licensure/Certifications/Education: High School Graduate or GED required. Completion of a Medical Assistant Program, Certified Nursing Assistant program or completion of a bachelor’s degree program in the pre-med or pre-physician assistant track preferred. CPR certified preferred.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of recent experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, or other clinical patient care experience preferred. Previous experience in Dermatology is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time
  • Moderate amount of talking, bending, twisting, reaching, and balancing
  • Use of hands and fingers
  • Talking and listening in person and on the telephone
  • Handling of materials such as paper, supplies, etc.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds
  • Risk of exposure to infectious organisms and the possibility of injury due to chemicals and sharp objects
