Clinical Masters Level Intern
About the role
The IOP Master’s level internship aims to assist in developing competent and ethical entry-level clinicians who are confident in their ability to provide quality, specialized treatment to children, adolescents, and adults experiencing obsessive-compulsive, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders. This internship is based within OCD Anxiety Center’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
Responsibilities
- Safely, effectively, and efficiently support the clinical team and clients to promote the best quality and output standards.
- Support scheduling, specific department task completion, communication, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and time and priority management.
- Collaborate with supervisors, associate clinical directors, Clinical Director, and Clinical Project Coordinator to ensure treatment fidelity, company policy and procedure, and client satisfaction.
- Actively participate in interdisciplinary treatment team functions.
- Model and support TOATC business processes that are current and in development while fostering a positive culture on the team.
- Provide validation in a warm, safe environment and keep clients motivated to work through distress and eliminate neutralizing behaviors.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Present self in a professional manner.
- Represent the internship title as an Intern in a transparent and professional manner at all times with both employees and clients/families.
- Attend weekly supervision (individual/group supervision varies based on school requirements).
- Attend treatment team meetings.
- Attend weekly therapist training.
- Train up to and maintain a caseload of IOP clients by providing and directing psychotherapeutic intervention during treatment for OCD and other mental health disorders which will include case conceptualizations, development of treatment plans, and perpetuating a skillful and organized IOP.
- Co-facilitate/Facilitate various IOP groups.
- Learn and conduct de-escalation techniques as well as crisis planning and management.
- Maintain comprehensive and timely documentation related to progress notes, group therapy notes, etc.
- Provide case management related to client caseload.
- Maintain communication between associate clinical director and clinical assistant team.
- Assume tasks related to clinical treatment that may consist of clerical, clinical assistant, and/or project development as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Proficient knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and other computer software.
- Accurate and efficient electronic data entry.
- Punctual and maintain excellent attendance.
- Organized, detail-oriented, takes initiative, and completes job responsibilities independently.
- Multitasking, problem-solving, interpersonal, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Thrive in a changing work environment including inside, outside, and loud noise level.
- Physical demands of the job include sitting at a desk or table for extended periods, bending, lifting, and walking.
- Pass a full criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internships requiring 16+ hours weekly.
- Flexibility with days of the week and hours.
- Interns within their 2nd/final year in a social work or counseling masters program.
- Prior clinical experience.
- Experience with populations suffering from obsessive-compulsive, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders.
- Cognitive behavioral therapy and/or dialectical behavior therapy experience.
