About the Role

Medical Associates Clinic is a physician-owned multi-specialty group practice with 200+ providers and 900 healthcare professionals serving Northeast Iowa, Southwest Wisconsin, and Northwest Illinois. This Clinical Manager position supports the Otolaryngology and Urology departments and is based out of the Dubuque, Iowa West and East Campuses.

The Clinical Manager role combines leadership responsibilities with occasional hands-on patient care. You will oversee day-to-day clinical operations, ensure high-quality patient care, manage nursing staff, and uphold clinical best practices. You will partner with Department Chairpersons, your Clinical Director, physicians, advanced practice providers, and staff to manage and develop teams, payroll, scheduling, and budgeting while leading change initiatives.

Schedule

Core business hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with flexibility to attend meetings outside core hours as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the organization and coordination of delivering quality patient care within the department, including occasional direct patient care.
  • Perform managerial duties such as preparing annual budgets, attending meetings, collecting/compiling data, and preparing reports.
  • Oversee medical records management, results, data entry, and business office activities, including establishing appropriate coding and charging mechanisms.
  • Provide direct patient care alongside nursing staff, including assessments, administering medications, and coordinating treatments.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for the nursing team, offering expertise and support in complex or critical situations.
  • Manage staff selection, training, development, performance evaluations, and address performance issues.
  • Prepare schedules and assign work to ensure adequate staffing levels for high-quality patient service.
  • Interpret and comply with regulations, policies, and procedures, including incident reporting, equipment safety, credentialing, and CLIA laboratory regulations.
  • Complete assigned projects and duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from an accredited institution, or specialized course of study/certification at a business or trade school.
  • Five to ten years of relevant experience; management experience preferred.

  • Ability to use personal protection safety equipment (e.g., gloves, lab coats, gowns, goggles, face masks/shields).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including trust, diplomacy, and tact for extensive personal contact inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to motivate or influence others and foster relationships with external entities (vendors, labs, hospitals, etc.).
