Clinical Line, 10-month, Half- or Full-Time, Assistant Rank Faculty Position, PsyD Program

At the Graduate School of Professional Psychology (GSPP), our goal is to transform the way we think about and approach mental health and wellness through groundbreaking academic programs and experiential training. GSPP offers a well-rounded approach to education, blending academic offerings, intensive field-based training, cutting-edge applied research, and community engagement. Our programs include a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD), four specialized master’s programs (Forensic Psychology, International Disaster Psychology: Trauma and Global Mental Health, Sport and Performance Psychology, and Sport Coaching), online certificates, and continuing education. GSPP also operates an APA-accredited internship consortium and several training clinics serving Denver and surrounding communities.

About the Role

The PsyD program at GSPP seeks to hire multiple faculty for 10-month, benefited, clinical-track positions beginning as soon as possible, with a preference for November 1, 2026. While full-time positions are preferred, half-time may be considered. One faculty member may take on the administrative role of Director of the GSPP Internship Consortium. The position includes teaching, scholarship, service, and clinical supervision duties.

Teaching expectations for full-time faculty are typically 27 credits over fall, winter, and spring quarters (13.5 credits for half-time), including 10 credits for clinical supervision of first-year students in the Professional Psychology Clinic (PPC). Faculty will also contribute to onsite supervision coverage, generally involving 1 day or evening per week. Scholarship expectations include serving on doctoral paper committees and engaging in publications, presentations, research, or grant-related work. Service responsibilities include committee participation, admissions processes, competency exams, academic advising, and attending PsyD events. Some summer obligations, including clinical supervision, are expected and compensated separately.

For the faculty member serving as Director of the GSPP Internship Consortium, responsibilities include maintaining APA accreditation, ensuring compliance with APA and APPIC standards, overseeing site partnerships, managing intern selection and training, and coordinating Friday seminars. This role includes a 6-credit reduction in teaching load.

  • Collaborate on committees supporting PsyD, GSPP, and university initiatives.
  • Participate in PsyD admissions, competency exams, and academic advising.
  • Attend PsyD and unit-level meetings and events.
  • Uphold GSPP’s commitment to inclusion through professional activities.
• Administration (for Internship Consortium Director only)
  • Maintain APA accreditation and ensure compliance with APA and APPIC standards.
  • Oversee intern selection, training, and evaluation.
  • Coordinate with training sites on logistical and clinical matters.
  • Manage program administration, including contracts, website updates, data reporting, and budget.

Requirements

• A doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology or a related field.
• License-eligible as a doctoral-level psychologist in Colorado within 3 months of hire.
• Experience with teaching, clinical supervision, research, scholarship, or relevant professional experience.
• Ability to provide clinical supervision to trainees and diverse supervising psychotherapists.
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusion, social justice, and access in education.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including graduate-level teaching.
• Strong technology skills, including familiarity with MS Office suite.
• Initiative and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensed as a doctoral-level psychologist in Colorado.
• Minimum 3 years of post-doctoral experience in clinical psychology.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical supervision or clinic management experience.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching, clinical service, research, or training aligned with PsyD and GSPP missions.
• Accomplished graduate-level teaching and mentorship experience.
• 3 years of experience providing or supervising counseling/psychotherapy and assessment.
• Experience with curriculum development.
• Administrative experience, particularly in an APPIC training setting.
• Experience tracking and reporting on APA accreditation standards.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $78,000 - $95,000 for full-time and $39,000 - $47,500 for half-time. The University of Denver provides a compensation range as a good faith estimate at the time of posting. The final salary will be determined based on qualifications, budget availability, internal equity, and market information.

Schedule

Faculty schedules vary by term and are based on courses taught, service commitments, and research agendas. The position is 10 months (September – June), with some compensated summer obligations. The University’s administrative offices are open Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
