About the role

The Clinical Leadership Trainer ensures appropriate training for all clinical leaders within the organization, developing and maintaining a comprehensive training program. This position supports the states of Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan, traveling to branch locations to work individually with clinical leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the senior leadership team to develop an effective training and development plan for clinical leaders.
  • Maintains and updates the clinical leadership training plan as necessary.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of clinical leadership roles.
  • Keeps abreast of organizational and regulatory changes to ensure all clinical leaders are thoroughly trained and compliant.
  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure clinical leaders understand all departmental functions.
  • Works onsite with regional clinical leadership to ensure leaders are sufficiently equipped and demonstrate a thorough understanding of organizational, regulatory, and management requirements before leading independently.
  • Meets with all new clinical leaders (weekly, minimum-remote) to determine progress and provide training.
  • Offers assistance or additional training as needed for clinical leaders requiring performance improvement.
  • Collaborates with regional leadership on any performance improvement needs for clinical leaders.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in state(s) of practice.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Associate degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least three years of hospice experience.
  • At least three years of clinical staff leadership experience, including training and development.
  • Ability to pass DHS background study.
  • If driving: Valid State Driver’s License, automobile in good working order, automobile insurance in accordance with state and organizational requirements, and an acceptable driving record.

Skills

  • Ability to evaluate staff and create individual development plans.
  • Excellent observation, verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and basic math skills.
  • Thorough understanding of all CHAP and Medicare requirements for hospice.
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize while managing competing priorities.
  • Ability to comprehend and utilize an electronic health record.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions and document training plans concisely within established timeframes.
  • Demonstrates ongoing competence in nursing skills per St. Croix Hospice competency checklist.
  • Self-directing with the ability to exercise independent judgment and work with little direct supervision.
  • Proficient in English; able to read, speak, and write clearly and concisely.
  • Understands hospice philosophy and is comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill.
  • Displays empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail, and impaired.
  • Provides a calm demeanor when communicating with patients and caregivers.
