Responsibilities
- Performs analyses on blood, tissue, and body fluids to aid health care providers in the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of patients.
- Testing is performed in specialized laboratories and may include highly skilled manual techniques or automated testing using sophisticated instrumentation.
- Works with multiple computer systems to retrieve information and report results.
- May work with minimal supervision and may assist with specimen collection.
- Must strictly adhere to safety protocols to work with infectious specimens, chemicals and other hazards.
- Must be capable of producing accurate results under time constraints, multi-tasking, and performing in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Experience with operation and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and assay systems is desirable.
- Must possess good communication skills and be able to work closely with others.
- Must be able to accommodate scheduling adjustments, off-shifts, holiday, on-call, and weekend work assignments.

Qualifications
- Graduate or student graduating within three months with a bachelor's degree in:
- Graduate with a Bachelor's degree in:
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a biological science (such as, but may not be limited to Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, etc.) is required.
- Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS), Medical Technology (MT)
- Or Bachelor's degree plus Certificate in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS), Medical Technology (MT), as recognized by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) is required. A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree.
- Candidate must satisfy one more of the following qualifications to be considered:
- Hold an MLS/CLS degree
- Are a current contracted (contingent) employee within the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology (DLMP) seeking permanent placement in another DLMP Laboratory
- Are a current Mayo Clinic employee, not currently in a CLT/CLS role
- Former employee of Mayo Clinic
- Former Summer Laboratory Science Program participant
- Are graduates of the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences Medical Laboratory Science Program

$32.43 - $48.66 / hour

Schedule Details: Varies; Please be aware that training schedules may be different than the shift accepted upon hire. Initial training in many labs can take 2-6 months before new hires are moved to their work schedules accepted upon hire.
Weekend Schedule: Varies; Candidate must be able to accommodate scheduling adjustments, off-shifts, holiday, on-call, and weekend work assignments.
