About the role

Memorial laboratory professionals understand that every specimen and every report are informing diagnosis, treatment and care. We never lose sight of the patient and family who are on the other end of that data, and are depending on us for timely and accurate results.

Responsibilities

• Serves as Charge Technologist.
• Serves as a resource to laboratory staff and other clinical staff.
• Follows established procedures for laboratory quality control, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, compliance activities, and policies and procedures.
• May instruct and observe student technologists.
• Reports test results in a timely manner according to established laboratory protocols.
• Effectively manages resources such as productivity, supplies, instruments and equipment.
• Plans work and completes job responsibilities in an efficient and productive manner.
• Performs accurate and appropriate testing of specimens received in the laboratory, according to established laboratory protocol and procedures.
• Affords competency of team members.
• Plans work and completes job responsibilities in an efficient and productive manner.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
• Florida State License as a Technologist (TN License) or Supervisor (SU License) in the area of responsibility.

Skills

• Intermediate knowledge of laboratory procedures and instrumentation.
• Ability to effectively relate and communicate with internal and external customers.
• Intermediate knowledge of laboratory information systems.
• Critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of clinical policies and standards.

• Equipment maintenance - lab skills.

Benefits

Additional Education Info: Associate’s degree with five (5) years or more of experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.

Bachelor’s degree required to assess competency.

Additional Cert/License Info: Florida State License as a Technologist (TN License) or Supervisor (SU License) in the area of responsibility.
