Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Hematology

About the role

A Laboratory Technologist responsible for performing and overseeing testing procedures, ensuring specimen quality, troubleshooting instrumentation, and maintaining laboratory operations in accordance with SOPs to deliver accurate results.

Responsibilities

• Assess specimen acceptability and perform routine and complex tests
• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
• Make technical decisions related to testing and problem solving
• Prepare and evaluate reagents and controls
• Report accurate test results promptly to support quality patient care
• Perform preventive maintenance and quality control activities
• Manage supplies and assist with specimen processing as needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to PPE guidelines

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical, Biological science, or related field
• Hematology MT FL State License
• Preferred: 3+ months clinical testing experience, ASCP or AMT certification
• Strong understanding of lab operations, policies, and high-volume testing
• Proficiency with computers and laboratory information systems
• Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently or in teams
• Physical capability to perform testing duties and pass a color blindness test
• Flexibility for overtime or shift work based on business needs
