Clinical Laboratory Technician-Level I

About the role
Under direct supervision, performs clinical laboratory procedures that encompass the scope of practice of a clinical laboratory technician, in accordance with Article 165 of the New York State Education Law.
Responsibilities
- Obtains, collects, and accessions specimens and labels with name, date, and source.
- Stores and preserves specimens and disposes of completed specimens.
- Prepares specimens and performs or assists in the performance of routine tests and analyses, employing standard controls in accordance with stipulated procedures utilizing manual or automated techniques.
- Prepares reagents and media according to prescribed formula.
- Maintains upkeep of designated laboratory instruments before and after usage.
- Records results and submits reports of diagnostic tests, utilizing safeguards such as delta checks and quality control.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a clinical laboratory technician or a limited permit issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
- Successful completion of an appropriate training program for phlebotomy (satisfactory to the laboratory director) must be completed prior to performing such work.
All personnel perform related work as required.
