Clinical Laboratory Technician
Responsibilities
- Collect and harvest plasma, serum, and other required laboratory specimens strictly according to study protocol specifications.
- Work with floor technicians and phlebotomists to coordinate the timely collection, organization, and processing of PK samples in the PK processing area.
- Monitor the collection of urine and, when required, fecal specimens from subjects participating in clinical studies.
- Absorb urine from subjects when needed, ensuring privacy, comfort, and adherence to protocol.
- Complete all required study documentation accurately and in a timely manner, including logs, forms, and laboratory records.
- Undergo training on special laboratory and clinic equipment as required by individual study protocols and apply that training in daily work.
- Maintain all procedures and processing areas in a neat, clean, and well-organized condition to support quality and safety standards.
- Collaborate with study coordinators to support the smooth and orderly flow of procedures between the clinic, laboratory, and urine monitoring areas.
- Follow established quality control procedures for specimen handling, labeling, storage, and transport.
- Perform pipetting, centrifuging, and other routine laboratory processing tasks with precision and attention to detail.
- Support clinical research studies
Essential Skills
- High or secondary school diploma or equivalent, combined with relevant formal academic or vocational qualification.
- Previous laboratory experience (approximately 1 year) that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform routine clinical laboratory tasks.
- Ability to collect and process laboratory specimens, including plasma, serum, urine, and fecal samples, in accordance with detailed protocols.
- Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques such as pipetting, centrifuging, and specimen processing.
- Understanding of quality control principles in a laboratory environment, including accurate labeling, documentation, and sample tracking.
- Ability to work within clinical research settings involving healthy subjects and time-sensitive sampling schedules.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions precisely.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with floor technicians, phlebotomists, and study coordinators.
- Organizational skills to maintain a clean, orderly, and efficient PK processing area.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Technical positions may require a relevant laboratory or clinical certificate.
- Experience with accessioning and organizing samples within a clinical research unit.
- Familiarity with chemistry-related laboratory workflows and specimen handling.
- Exposure to clinical research.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced clinical environment with multiple concurrent studies.
- Willingness to cross-train and assist minimally on the clinic floor when needed.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
