Clinical Laboratory Team Lead - Hematology

About the role

The successful candidate will assist the supervisor with the day-to-day operations of the Department/Lab. They will also train new hires and develop current employees, monitor and operate instrumentation, and report accurate test results.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in the preparation, testing, and evaluation of new reagents or controls
  • Document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Assist with specimen processing when needed
  • Train and develop current employees
  • Operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Review and approve specimens for testing
  • Generate and submit daily, weekly, and monthly production reports to management
  • Monitor and document employee performance
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a Technologist
  • ASCP and/or AMT certifications preferred
  • Preferred 6 months of supervisory or leadership experience

Qualifications

  • Understanding of laboratory operations and policies
  • Proficiency with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Comfortable making decisions in a changing environment
  • Ability to handle physical requirements of the position
  • Pass a standardized color blindness test
