Clinical Laboratory Team Lead - Direct Testing

About the role

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Team Leader to join our team in Burlington, NC. This full-time position supports the supervisor with daily operations, training, and team leadership in a high-volume laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the supervisor with day-to-day operations of the department
• Send daily, weekly, and monthly production reports to management
• Assist with training new hires and developing current employees
• Keep supervisor informed of group progress, problems, employee performance, and significant factors affecting assigned responsibilities
• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
• 2+ years of clinical laboratory testing experience
• Understanding of laboratory operations, policies, and procedures
• Experience working in a high-volume laboratory environment
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Proficiency with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail, strong communication, and organizational skills
• Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Preferred Qualifications

• ASCP and/or AMT Certifications
• 6+ months of supervising or leading a team

Additional Information

In lieu of the education requirements listed, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may be accepted.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM.
