Clinical Laboratory Supervisor- (Fort Smith, AR)

Summary of Job Duties

The Department of Pathology Fort Smith Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Fort Smith Laboratory. Key duties include:

• Active supervision of technical staff
• Performing moderate complexity testing procedures
• Ensuring all approved policies and procedures are implemented and followed by staff
• Documenting deviations, initiating investigations, and assisting Quality Assurance in evaluating possible causes
• Maintaining confidentiality of highly sensitive strategic and personnel-related information
• Adapting and adjusting departmental workflows to meet patient needs
• Maintaining frequent and timely communication with laboratory leadership, nursing, and infection prevention staff

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, or other ASCP-approved discipline; two (2) years of clinical laboratory experience; MLS/MT ASCP certification or equivalent
• Preferred Qualifications: Five (5) years of general laboratory experience with current instrumentation utilized at UAMS; experience with CLIA requirements; experience with COLA, LIS systems, Microsoft Office programs, and inventory control; experience with pulling data and creating reports
