Role Overview
Serves as a technical consultant and supervisor of laboratory personnel, overseeing all laboratory testing, quality control, and safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Manage laboratory testing, including point-of-care testing, ensuring accuracy and validity of results.
- Develop and maintain policies, standards, and quality control practices to meet accreditation and regulatory standards such as CLIA, FDA, CAP, JC, and OSHA.
- Lead staff staffing, training, and performance evaluations, promoting competency and professional development.
- Oversee equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration to ensure optimal functioning.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and quality assurance standards, maintaining detailed records.
- Evaluate new instrumentation and procedures for implementation, acting as a liaison with other departments.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, biological, chemical sciences, or related fields.
- Valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist license in the state of employment.
- Preferred experience includes five years of clinical laboratory work and two years of leadership.
- Current certification from ASCP or NCA preferred.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory operations, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to perform as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist when needed, conduct staff training, and manage laboratory operations effectively.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory standards is essential.
