Clinical Laboratory Assistant - Senior

Responsibilities

  • Receive clinical specimens and check for accuracy.
  • Accession specimens into the laboratory information system (LIS).
  • Distribute worksheets to medical technologists.
  • Ensure laboratory results are reported to clients.
  • Assist with day-to-day processes in a clinical lab setting.
  • Aid in gathering documentation, including care plans and consent forms.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for all specimen.
  • Perform inventory database maintenance and tracking.
  • Manage laboratory billing processes.
  • Facilitate timely communication of laboratory results.
  • Perform data entry and assist in Quality Management meetings.
  • Oversee logistics of specimen shipments.
  • Prepare for FDA and CAP inspections.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently within established guidelines.
  • Apply problem-solving skills and meet deadlines.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Perform waived testing procedures according to established protocols and regulatory guidelines.
  • Verify the accuracy of patient information and specimen labeling.
  • Knowledge of relevant laboratory safety and infection control protocols.
  • Knowledge of laboratory information systems (LIS) is an asset.
