Responsibilities
- Receive clinical specimens and check for accuracy.
- Accession specimens into the laboratory information system (LIS).
- Distribute worksheets to medical technologists.
- Ensure laboratory results are reported to clients.
- Assist with day-to-day processes in a clinical lab setting.
- Aid in gathering documentation, including care plans and consent forms.
- Maintain accurate inventory records for all specimen.
- Perform inventory database maintenance and tracking.
- Manage laboratory billing processes.
- Facilitate timely communication of laboratory results.
- Perform data entry and assist in Quality Management meetings.
- Oversee logistics of specimen shipments.
- Prepare for FDA and CAP inspections.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Ability to work independently within established guidelines.
- Apply problem-solving skills and meet deadlines.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Perform waived testing procedures according to established protocols and regulatory guidelines.
- Verify the accuracy of patient information and specimen labeling.
- Knowledge of relevant laboratory safety and infection control protocols.
- Knowledge of laboratory information systems (LIS) is an asset.
