About the Role

Responsibilities

• Perform high-complexity clinical laboratory testing using LC-MS/MS and GC-MS platforms.
• Develop, validate, and implement new mass spectrometry-based assays for clinical use.
• Maintain and troubleshoot mass spectrometry instrumentation and related equipment.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, FDA) and laboratory quality control procedures.
• Analyze and interpret test results, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to support patient care and research projects.
• Participate in laboratory quality improvement initiatives and proficiency testing.
• Train and mentor junior staff and students as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) by ASCP or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in clinical mass spectrometry, including LC-MS/MS and/or GC-MS techniques.
• Experience with method development, validation, and troubleshooting of mass spectrometry assays.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and data analysis software.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (CLIA, CAP, FDA).
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Experience with pediatric or academic medical center laboratory settings.
• Knowledge of metabolomics, endocrinology, or toxicology testing.
• Experience with automation and robotics in the laboratory.
