Role & Responsibilities
- Prepares specimens for analysis and organizes tests to be performed.
- Performs clinical testing according to standard operating procedures, related to specimen handling, processing, and test analyses.
- Accesses and handles protected health information (PHI) according to laboratory policies and procedures and in a manner consistent with federal regulations.
- Prepares and properly labels reagents required for laboratory testing.
- Performs general laboratory duties such as glassware cleaning, reagent making, etc.
- Verifies proper instrument function by checking and calibrating laboratory instruments and documents data.
- Maintains legible work records.
- Maintains records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Adheres to the laboratory’s quality control policies and document all quality control activities.
- Follows the laboratory’s established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the lab established acceptable levels of performance.
- Pays careful attention to detail during all laboratory tasks.
- Follows instructions from Supervisors, and all Leadership.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
- Performs all job duties in a manner consistent with, laboratory, CLIA, CAP and local regulations.
- Maintains good communication with leadership, team members and customers.
- Follows safety, security, and the environment in all aspect of the daily activities and report any potential safety hazards to Supervisors; address them immediately if possible.
- Understands ergonomic relationship between people, equipment and working environment.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in a life or physical science such as chemistry, biology, or medical technology.
- A minimum of two years of clinical laboratory experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Clinical and research lab environment;
- Exposure to blood borne pathogens;
- Must wear protective lab gear including lab coat, gloves and completely closed footwear.
- Employee may be requested to work other shifts other than daylight depending on the needs of the laboratory.
- Weekend rotation may be required.
- Travel is not required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use a keyboard, type, and occasionally stand and move to other parts of the lab.
- Must have manual dexterity to use lab equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Pay & Benefits
- The base salary range for this full-time position is $27/hr.
- The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
