Principle Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensures accurate and timely performance of tests requested by physicians and facilities, following laboratory policies and procedures.
- Handles and processes specimens, reports results, and maintains records of patient test results.
- Identifies and verifies patient and specimen information, ensuring specimen integrity throughout the process.
- Adheres to quality control policies, documenting all activities and deviations from performance specifications.
- Identifies and addresses issues affecting test performance or result reporting.
- Performs routine and new test procedures, demonstrating knowledge of underlying theories.
- Calibrates instruments, assesses equipment accuracy, and performs preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Verifies test results, accepts or rejects based on delta checks, requests redrawing, cancels results due to abnormalities, and reviews outgoing reports for errors.
- Communicates with healthcare professionals and works collaboratively with others.
- Maintains supplies and inventory levels, assists in developing and implementing quality control standards, and solves quality control problems.
- Initiates and implements technical and administrative changes as directed by the Laboratory Director.
Experience / Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, microbiology, chemistry, biology, or a related field.
- Clinical Laboratory Scientist’s license from the State of California or equivalent approved by LFS.
- CLIA certification for High Complexity Testing.
- Training and experience in relevant departments (Microbiology, Hematology, Chemistry, Immunology).
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle fast-paced environments.
- Customer service orientation and self-motivation.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a changing work environment.
- High cognitive, interpretive, and judgment skills.
