Clinical Lab Scientist Supervisor
Purpose Statement/Position Summary
This Clinical Lab Scientist Supervisor will supervise the Blood Donor Center – which is responsible for all the blood and platelet collections at CHLA. They will oversee the phlebotomists, mobile driver, RNs, and recruitment team. They will work with marketing and other groups to increase hospital collections and reduce reliance on purchases from the Red Cross.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience
- 5+ years in Transfusion Medicine and Blood Donor Center
- General knowledge of all areas of the clinical lab including phlebotomy.
- Working knowledge of basic office software, LIS and/or HIS computer systems.
- Experience in scheduling & training.
- Experience initiating and evaluating operational initiatives to improve quality, throughput, and care.
- Ability to lead others and apply organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully verbally and in writing.
Preferred
- Previous supervisory and fiscal management experience.
- Familiar with FDA, AABB and CAP Regulations.
- ASCP certification preferred.
- Professional involvement such as membership on committees, publication of papers and presentation of conferences preferred.
Education/Licensure/Certification
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in a clinical lab science, medical technology or related science required.
- Active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) License
- Or acceptable Limited California License in Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist License.
- Preferred: ASCP certification preferred.

Pay
$104,395.00-$178,963.00
