Responsibilities

  • Perform Transfusion Service Procedures, both routine and problem solving
  • Communicate effectively
  • Use and/or operate Blood Bank equipment correctly
  • Perform additional tests, projects or special studies when requested by a supervisor

Qualifications

  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science degreeA valid California Department of Health Clinical Laboratory Scientist license or a limited license in Immunohematology. Maintain active license and follow Clinical Lab CLS licensure policyRecent experience performing clinical lab testing in Transfusion Service
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Two years’ Blood Bank or Transfusion Service experience in a high volume lab within the past five years, to include, but not exclusive of, experience in:Selection and crossmatch of blood for the sensitized or problem recipientAntibody identification and titersSerologic follow-up of transfusion reactionsBlood Bank quality control proceduresProblems associated with transfusion of the neonateUse of hospital and laboratory information (computer) systemsExperience performing testing on an automated platform

About the Role

The Transfusion Service performs test procedures and generates test results. This role operates laboratory instrumentation and equipment to ensure accurate test results. They also troubleshoot issues with instrumentation and equipment.

Requirements

Must be able to work in a high-volume setting.
