About the role

The Laboratory/Clinical Lab Scientist will be responsible for performing complex laboratory procedures in the blood bank department, including but not limited to specimen collection, processing, and testing. This role requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Handle a high volume of blood bank specimens independently during night shifts.
  • Perform complex laboratory procedures such as blood typing, cross-matching, and other related tests.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and quality control standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate and timely results.
  • May assist in training new staff members as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a blood bank setting.
  • Recent blood bank traveler experience within the last 2 years.
  • Experience in a Level I Trauma and teaching hospital preferred.
  • Experience with Epic software.
  • Experience in a large hospital (300+ beds).
  • ASCP-BB certification required.
  • Experience with Wellsky and Immucor instrumentation preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

  • Start time: 21:30, may flex to 20:00 as needed.
  • Shift: 4x10HR variable days.
  • Rotating weekends and holidays required.
  • Guaranteed hours with potential call-off once per two-week pay period.
