The Clinical Laboratory Scientist I is a Licensed Medical Technologist whose primary responsibility is to perform laboratory testing on patient samples. In this capacity, the CLS performs the preanalytical, analytical testing phases and post analytical phases, and is responsible for quality control, equipment maintenance, and all reporting and documentation.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science or Clinical Laboratory Science
  • American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification
  • Clinical Lab Scientist-CA (CLS) license; Limited Licensed CLS may be accepted in lieu of a General CLS (must be obtained within 6 months of hire)
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proficient with computers and software programs necessary for the position
  • Able to read, write legibly, and speak in English with professional quality
  • Able to operate and troubleshoot basic laboratory equipment
  • Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others
  • Able to work calmly and respond courteously under pressure
  • Able to collaborate and accept direction
  • Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone
  • Able to think critically and manage multiple assignments effectively

Experience

None required. This role is open to new graduates through the Clinical Laboratory Scientist Training Program. Previous healthcare experience is preferred.

Pay

Pay Range Minimum: $45.72

Midpoint: $60.58

Maximum: $75.43

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.
