Clinical Lab Scientist
About the role
The Clinical Lab Scientist plays a critical role in diagnosing patient conditions through the execution of complex laboratory tests. This position requires expertise in various lab disciplines, including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and more.
Responsibilities
- Execute a wide range of analytical procedures across different lab disciplines.
- Analyze specimens, operate/maintain laboratory instruments, and interpret results.
- Conduct quality control checks and provide crucial data for clinical decision-making.
- Interact with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to resolve issues related to specimen collection and handling.
- Consult with supervisors, directors, and pathologists for policy clarification and problem resolution.
- Operate lab computer systems according to department manuals.
- Familiarize and comply with general laboratory safety practices, MSDS guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in teaching programs to assist in the training of students and other programs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) certification.
- Necessary education level to obtain required licensure and certifications.
- One (1) year acute care hospital experience preferred.
- Strong scientific foundation, advanced technical proficiency, exceptional problem-solving skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Above average communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to workload demands and function efficiently during difficult or emergency situations.
- Ability to maintain and operate laboratory equipment.
- Medical terminology, basic computer terminology, and data entry skills.
Qualifications

Pay
The posted compensation range for this position is $56.36 - $66.39 per hour, reflecting the lowest to highest pay CommonSpirit Health believes it might pay for this role, based on current circumstances.
Schedule
The shift is a night shift, operating Sunday through Saturday, with a total of 80 hours per week.
