Responsibilities
- Perform routine and complex clinical laboratory testing, accurately analyzing and reporting results.
- Process and verify specimens, ensuring proper identification, handling, and documentation.
- Maintain quality assurance standards and participate in troubleshooting, validations, and process improvements.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment while monitoring inventory and supplies.
- Train and support laboratory staff, students, and new team members as assigned.
- Collaborate with pathologists, providers, and laboratory colleagues to support exceptional patient care.
- Adhere to all laboratory safety, regulatory, and Johns Hopkins Medicine standards and policies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and perform additional laboratory duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related scientific field required.
- Related degrees in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or similar disciplines may be considered if accompanied by qualifying clinical laboratory coursework, internships, or clinical rotations that meet regulatory testing requirements.
- Must have EPIC experience.
- ASCP certification (MLS, MT, MLT) or equivalent certification from an approved agency preferred; may be required depending on experience level.
- Clinical laboratory experience ranging from internship/clinical rotations for entry-level candidates to 2+ years of direct clinical laboratory experience for advanced candidates.
