SCHEDULE: Tuesday - Friday 8 AM-4:30 PM & Saturday 9am-5:30pm
Responsibilities
- Perform patient specimen processing under the direct and constant supervision of a licensed CLS.
- Perform routine laboratory maintenance tasks, i.e. setting up consumables in preparation of laboratory testing, etc.
- Assist the CLS in on bench laboratory testing.
- Receive and accession samples into the laboratory information management system (LIMS) to facilitate sample throughput.
- Perform instrument calibrations and maintenance.
- Perform data entry and maintain spreadsheets.
- Participate in materials management activities which includes tasks such as order requests, receiving, unpacking, documentation and labeling of consumables and reagents, and stocking work areas.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities.
- Perform testing for special research and development studies.
- Comply with CareDx quality control policies and document QC activities
- Maintain confidentiality of personal health information (PHI).
- Identify problems that may affect assigned duties, or the ability to follow established protocols, and escalate to Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Supervisor, Clinical Laboratory Manager, or lab Director.
- Document corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
- Perform additional administrative duties and projects assigned by the Clinical Laboratory Manager.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations governing clinical laboratory operations.
Qualifications
- AA degree required; BS/BA in a biology-related science is preferred
- 1-3 years of experience in a laboratory setting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Aptitude for performance of molecular testing techniques (PCR, real-time PCR, etc.)
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing, within the work group
