Clinical Internship

About the role

The Clinical Internship Program under Casa Counseling/Consejeria provides training and clinical supervision to graduate students enrolled in an accredited professional graduate school to obtain a master's level degree in social work or marriage family therapy as MFT trainees or MSW student interns. Casa Counseling/Consejeria’s Clinical Internship Program is committed to providing training in evidence-based practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, family, and group therapy
• Coordinate care with a multidisciplinary team
• Assess clinical crises and apply risk management techniques as needed
• Run successful groups including parenting, anger management, stress, pain management, anxiety, sexual assault, domestic violence, and more
• Work a minimum of 20 hours per week
• Provide crisis intervention, individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, intake assessments, case management, multi-provider coordination, and community presentations
• Participate in meetings and training sessions
• Provide evidenced-based practices such as TF-CBT, legal aspects of domestic violence and human trafficking, immigration law applied to victims, engagement with children and families, child sexual abuse treatment, sand play therapy, psychopharmacology, LGBTQ+ clinical issues, domestic violence, family therapy, therapeutic frame, art interventions, cognitive behavioral therapy, elimination disorders, dual diagnosis, eating disorders, and more

Requirements

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Enrolled in an accredited professional graduate school pursuing a master's level degree in social work or marriage family therapy
• Pass background checks and drug screens
• Have completed coursework in evidence-based practices

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

• Experience with crisis intervention, individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, intake assessments, case management, multi-provider coordination, and community presentations
• Knowledge of evidenced-based practices such as TF-CBT, legal aspects of domestic violence and human trafficking, immigration law applied to victims, engagement with children and families, child sexual abuse treatment, sand play therapy, psychopharmacology, LGBTQ+ clinical issues, domestic violence, family therapy, therapeutic frame, art interventions, cognitive behavioral therapy, elimination disorders, dual diagnosis, eating disorders, and more

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Direct Patient Care: 10 hours, with a caseload of 12 clients
Non-Patient Care: 5 hours
Individual supervision: 1 hour
Group supervision: 2 hours per week
Meetings/Training: 1+ hours per month

Specialties

Group Therapy Clinical interns within this specialty will be trained to run successful groups. Groups may include parenting, anger management, stress, pain management, anxiety, sexual assault, domestic violence, and more.

Training Structure

The Clinical Internship Program is designed to last for a period of 12 months based on academic requirements and agency needs. Clinical Interns are required to work a minimum of 20 hours per week.
