About the role
Virginia Western Community College is seeking part-time Emergency Medical Services (EMS) clinical instructors in the School of Health Professions. These positions are available based on clinical need and applicant availability.
Responsibilities
- Maintain currency in the EMS system within the Roanoke area.
- Assist and oversee the work of EMS students.
- Supervise, instruct, and evaluate students.
- Work in the lab or clinical setting.
- May assist the agency or state government in emergencies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent with two (2) years of clinical experience as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
- A strong working knowledge of the EMS system within the Roanoke area.
- Associate’s degree in the teaching field preferred.
- Current or recent classroom and/or online teaching experience specifically in an EMS program.
- Previous teaching experience in higher education.
- Demonstrated ability to incorporate technology into instructional and faculty responsibilities.
- Current NREMT-Paramedic Certification preferred.
Qualifications
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
Skills
- Proficiency in supervision, instruction, and evaluation.
- Experience using the Canvas (LMS) Learning Management System for online learning development/teaching.
- Knowledge of current Microsoft Office programs.
