Responsibilities
- Provide general reception and support functions for assigned unit, including directing phone calls, patient call lights, greeting visitors and patients, distributing mail, and coordinating information flow.
- Perform the necessary clerical and communication functions to support the admit, transfer and/or discharge process.
- Data entry, file, printing, duplicate and distribute various forms, letters, reports, data, and other such information as required.
- Prepare and report census, transportation, and statistical data.
- Monitor and maintain adequate unit supply levels, initiating supply and equipment requisitions according to procedure.
- Aid with remaining paper medical records through provision and filing of forms.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year clerical experience or equivalent preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication as well as strong customer service skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Ability to work with confidential data
- Demonstrate good judgment, discretion, tact, and ability to set priorities
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and demonstrate ability to interact with others
- Basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs applicable to Waterbury Hospital procedures
