Clinical Health Psychologist - Cancer Care Support

About the Role

The Clinical Health Psychologist assesses, diagnoses, and treats psychological, emotional, cognitive, and functional status of individuals coping with injury and/or health issues using a biopsychosocial approach. This role may work in an inpatient consultation-liaison role, integrated clinics, and/or outpatient settings as part of a multidisciplinary team within our large Health System.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychological evaluations of patients to assess cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning using a variety of assessment tools and techniques.
• Provide individual, group, and family therapy to patients dealing with chronic illness, pain management, or other medical conditions; develop and implement tailored treatment plans.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare providers to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
• Provide consultation to medical staff regarding the psychological aspects of patient care.
• Educate patients and their families about psychological factors impacting medical conditions and overall health; provide coping strategies for stress, anxiety, depression, and other challenges.
• Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including documentation of assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with medical staff bylaws.
• Participate in departmental and organizational mandatory meetings, trainings, and medical staff psychology section meetings.
• Promote education of psychology trainees, including didactics, teaching, and supervision within the psychology fellowship program.
• Adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards; demonstrate cultural competence in providing care that respects diverse backgrounds.
• Participate in department rotational on-call duties throughout the year.

Requirements

• Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or School Psychology.
• Licensed as a Psychologist in Florida or a compact state.
• PhD or PsyD from an APA-approved accredited degree-granting college or university.
• Pre-doctoral internship from an APA-accredited program.
• Post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Health, or Rehabilitation Psychology.
• Broad training in diagnosis and treatment of medically complex populations.
• Eligibility for Medical Staff Privileges.

Skills

• Proficiency in evidence-based interventions such as ACT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, EMDR, ERP, DBT, and pain management.
• Comfortable working and providing resolution in multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to critically think and make complex decisions in a dynamic environment.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Outstanding customer service and conflict resolution abilities.
• Independent decision-making guided by evidence, practicing at the top of license.
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

Schedule

• Full-time, scheduled days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
• Shift: Day (07:30 AM – 16:00 PM, varies).
• Hybrid remote work arrangement.

Pay

Minimum salary: $111,238.40.

Work Location

TGH Main Campus, with hybrid remote eligibility.
