About the role
The primary responsibility of the Adjunct Faculty member is teaching. We are seeking adjunct instructors for the following course in the Certificate in Applied Genomics program at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI): CAG 9011 Clinical Genetics: Actionability and Genome Editing (Spring, 3 credit hours).
Course Description
In this course, executive education students will explore how genetic and genomic information can impact the medical management of patients, both now and possibly in the near future. The course will explore how genetic diagnostic products are designed, validated, and approved and the uses of whole genome, whole exome, and targeted sequencing approaches in clinical settings. The course will also discuss the role of precision therapeutics and pharmacogenomics in patient care. Lastly, participants will explore the utility of gene therapy and genome editing, including ethical and regulatory considerations.
Education And Experience
- Hold a master’s degree, Ph.D. preferred.
- Experience in online teaching.
- Experience in industry or academic research in clinical genomics.
- Prior experience in teaching for active learning is preferred.
- Experience with the Canvas learning management system is a plus.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Provides high-quality student instruction.
- Evaluates student performance (e.g., written assignments, examinations, in-class activities).
- Provides remedial instruction as needed.

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team and collaboratively with other departments.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing; possess the ability to listen to all points of view, build consensus, and inform others of policies and decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
Hours, Classification, And Status
This is a part-time, exempt, adjunct faculty position and is not eligible for benefits. Schedules will vary depending on course assignments and the needs of the department or the Institute. The base salary range for this position is $2,500 - $15,000 per semester, depending on credits per course.

- Ability to travel locally, depending on business needs.
