About the role
Brightway Living & Learning is a non-profit provider of human services on Long Island, including educational, residential, day habilitation, and vocational programs. We support over 1,600 children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Provide communication and feeding assessments, screenings, interventions, and services to individuals over the age of 21 in both day program and residential settings according to OPWDD guidelines and ASHA standards.
- Train day program and residential staff on communication programs and safe feeding protocols.
- Provide required documentation for assessments and services.
- Attend pertinent meetings as scheduled.
- Collaborate and maintain open communication with other professionals, staff, and families.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Completion of all graduate internships and clinical hours
- Experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred
- Experience with AAC preferred
Qualifications
- Flexibility, as well as excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- New York State Driver’s License
Skills
- Ability to modify the area to secure the safety of the adults
- Ability to lift/move/carry 20 lbs
- Ability to run after an individual up to 500 feet
- Ability to run to a program in need up to 500 feet
- Ability to kneel, twist and bend
- Ability to respond to fire alarms
- Ability to perform all physical SCIP techniques
Pay
$62,400.00 - $74,880.00/year
Schedule
Full Time, Hourly Monday-Friday 8am-4pm
