About the role

As a Clinical Exercise Physiologist III at Banner North Colorado Medical Center, you will bring your experience and passion to our team while playing a vital role in patient care and cardiac wellness. This position assists with Non-Invasive Stress Testing and supports our Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab programs. The technician performs vital intake assessments when patients arrive and reviews consents and risk factor education with patients involving exercise studies. You will provide comprehensive pretest education and preparation, ensuring all patients understand test expectations. Effective communication with providers and colleagues regarding any findings or discrepancies is essential to ensure optimal patient care and safety.

Banner North Colorado Medical Center is a 378-bed Level II trauma center and acute care facility with over 3000 employees. Our hospital offers an array of inpatient and outpatient services including medical, pediatric, obstetric, orthopedic, surgical, heart, cancer, and critical care. As a regional medical center, we provide community-based and specialty services for a service area that includes southern Wyoming, western Nebraska, western Kansas, and northeastern Colorado.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patient’s functional abilities and limitations to determine appropriate intervention.
  • Develops a plan of care and exercise goals, as ordered by physician or other referral source.
  • Works alongside and receives guidance from other more experienced team members when working in phase I and II cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation. May oversee phase III outpatient cardiac and pulmonary rehab independently.
  • Implements individualized exercise plans based on patients’ physical and age-specific needs and abilities.
  • Ensures that treatment plans are supported by standard practices and/or current literature.
  • Reevaluates treatment plans, as needed, to ensure safety and maximum patient benefit.
  • Educates patients, family, and other care providers post cardiac to promote patient participation and attainment of exercise program goals.
  • Provides individualized home programs with clear instructions.
  • Instructs patients and families in pathology, discharge guidelines, risk factor modification, and exercise individually and through classes for both cardiac and pulmonary patients.
  • Documents patient treatment according to professional and regulatory standards under general supervision.
  • Follows plan of care to accomplish functions within established procedures and scope of practice.
  • Confers with lead or supervisor on any unusual situations.
  • Utilizes basic understanding of medical devices, equipment function, and quality control measurements.
  • Adheres to safety policies and demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot; notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance.
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Complies with all ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities and maintains confidentiality of all patient information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology or related field.
  • Minimum experience of a 300+ hour internship in cardiac rehabilitation or equivalent clinical/patient hours.
  • Knowledge in cardiac/pulmonary physiology, management and treatment of chronic disease, health promotion, ECG interpretation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare providers.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and human relation skills.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology or related field.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • 600+ hour internship in outpatient cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation.

Schedule

Varied days during the week, roughly 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

Pay

Estimated pay range: $22.06 - $33.10 per hour. Banner Health is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted compensation range is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay Banner Health in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Actual pay determined at offer will be based on years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location, along with a review of current employees in similar roles to ensure pay equity is achieved and maintained.
