Baptist Health is a locally governed, faith-based, not-for-profit health system in Jacksonville, Florida. Known for its commitment to patient care and community service, Baptist Health operates multiple hospitals and provides a wide range of specialized services, including Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center, Baptist Heart Hospital, Baptist Neurological Institute, and Wolfson Children's Hospital. The Bioethics Program at Baptist Health is seeking to hire two Clinical Ethicists to join their team.

Responsibilities

• Receive and conduct ethics consultations independently
• Document consultations in the electronic health record
• Follow up with patient cases after referral
• Work closely with other members of the Ethics Program to deliver high-quality ethics consultation services
• Participate in on-call services on a rotating basis
• Contribute to the continuous development and quality improvement of ethics consultation services
• Track ethics consultations and identify recurring issues for quality improvement
• Engage in preventative ethics activities, such as participating in Bioethics Performance Improvement Case Conferences and offering guidance on clinical and organizational ethics issues
• Deliver high-quality bioethics education throughout the health system
• Perform clinical ethics research and scholarship
• Develop, review, and revise ethics-related policies
• Lend expertise and insight on clinical and organizational ethical issues in collaboration with Health System committees and working groups

Requirements

• Master's degree in ethics, bioethics, philosophy, public health, nursing, or other healthcare degree
• Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in an acute care hospital in a similar role
• PhD (in Ethics or other relevant healthcare area), JD, or MD/DO Clinical Ethics Fellowship (strongly preferred)
• HEC-C certification (required within 2 years of employment)
• Experience performing ethics consultations in pediatric and adult settings
