About the role
The Clinical Educator at SurgCenter Northeast is responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating continuing clinical and non-clinical in-service education programs for all staff. This role works closely with leadership and staff to assess current educational needs and develop a plan to address these needs.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements in-service education programs for staff
- Affords support to leadership and staff in assessing current educational needs
- Assists in the ongoing revision and implementation of policies and procedures
- Supports the development of health system policies and procedures related to infection prevention and control
- Facilitates an Employee Health & Wellness Program to promote health and safety among employees
- Conducts surveillance, analysis, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections
- Educates employees on infection prevention and control
- Follows up on employee illnesses and injuries
- Conducts employee health screenings
- Promotes a safe and healthy work environment
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
- Two years of clinical experience is required.
- Operating Room and Pre-Op/PACU experience required.
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Florida.
- A minimum of three years of progressive clinical experience in a surgical facility preferred.
- Additional coursework or certification in infection control is preferred.
- A minimum of one-year experience with internal and external data management systems.
- Detailed knowledge of surgery centers, committees, department functions, and performance improvement activities.
- Effective communication, organizational, and leadership skills, independent decision-making, and ability to handle multiple projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of CMS, OSHA, CDC and CDPHE standards.
- Working knowledge of the developmental needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
- Ability to use Excel to develop and maintain spreadsheets, dashboards, databases and graphs.
- Working knowledge in areas of patient care practices, microbiology, asepsis, disinfection/sterilization, adult education, infectious diseases, communication, program administration and epidemiology.
- Ability to develop and maintain an Infection Prevention & Control Plan that includes timely and accurate surveillance activities, investigation, reporting, action plans and education.
