Clinical Director of ABA Services

About the Role

The BCBA Clinical Director provides leadership, project management, training, and supervision for the Behavior Analysis department. This role ensures clinical oversight, develops and implements policies and procedures, and maintains high service standards. The director assists with intakes, discharge and transition planning, and analyzes data to ensure program effectiveness. The position focuses on departmental growth, compliance with regulations (including Illinois’ Department of Healthcare and Family Service Rule 140, DHS, CQL), and supporting the agency’s mission, vision, and values.

Responsibilities

• Support the agency’s mission, vision, and values through professional conduct and adherence to policies.
• Assist the Senior Director of Clinical Services with compliance monitoring, strategic initiatives, and program development.
• Develop and revise ABA policies and procedures, compile quarterly data, and ensure timely clinical documentation.
• Supervise, hire, evaluate, and train behavioral health staff, including maintaining supervision logs and conducting performance reviews.
• Authorize personnel requests (vacation, leaves, training) and ensure staff licensure, certification, and coverage.
• Conduct functional behavior assessments, develop person-centered behavioral support plans, and provide individual therapy.
• Train agency staff on behavior plans, implement and modify plans as needed, and ensure billable services are documented and submitted.
• Maintain compliance with DHS, CQL, and other regulations for MRO billing.
• Meet productivity targets, including clinical documentation, service reporting, and note approvals.
• Participate in meetings, committees, and professional development opportunities.
• Manage Key Performance Indicators for ABA services and collaborate on marketing and outreach efforts.
• Act as a mandated reporter for allegations of abuse or neglect.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current BCBA certification (required).
• Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis or a human service field from an accredited school (required).
• 3+ years of experience in ABA as a BCBA (preferred).
• Medicaid knowledge (preferred).
• 3+ years of experience with persons with developmental disabilities (preferred).
• 1+ year of supervisory/managerial experience (preferred).
• Valid Driver’s License and proof of automobile insurance (required).

Physical Requirements
