Clinical Director- Critical Care Transport Team

About the Role

The Director, Transport Services is accountable for the 24-hour operations of the transfer center and Pedi Flite. Responsibilities include clinical care delivery, leadership of associates, fiscal stewardship of department resources, and creating a positive clinical and associate work environment. The director contributes to the organization's success in clinical outcomes, customer service, and financial performance while modeling the Mission, Vision, and Values of MLH.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Operations: Accountable for 24/7 service delivery, ensuring effective patient care through staff associates. Leads safety strategies, participates in clinical and customer satisfaction improvement initiatives.
• Associate Management: Hires, coaches, develops, and evaluates associates. Ensures effective deployment of the care delivery system, fosters positive work environments, and plans staffing/scheduling. Oversees associate competencies, licensing, and certifications (e.g., annual skills, cornerstone requirements).
• Fiscal Management: Develops and manages human resources, operating, and capital budgets. Analyzes fiscal variances and initiates corrective plans. Utilizes data and outcome information for decision-making.
• Environmental & Business Management: Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements. Maintains physical facilities and patient care equipment. Leads technology implementation and assigned projects.
• Professional Practice Leadership: Serves as a role model for Nursing, RRT, and Paramedics. Pursues professional certifications and engages in local/regional leadership.
• Transfer Center: Develops policies/procedures, trains associates, addresses complaints, and analyzes operations for improvement opportunities.
• Pedi Flite: Supports strategic program development, oversees supervisors, manages pharmacy operations, and ensures vehicle/medication compliance with City, State, and EMS Board standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Education:
  • Required: Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration.
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Nursing, or Respiratory Therapy.
• Work Experience:
  • Required: 5–7 years of clinical healthcare experience (acute or hospital setting).
  • Preferred: Clinical management experience.
• Licenses/Certifications:
  • Required: Tennessee Registered Nurse (Tennessee Board of Nursing).
  • Preferred: Licensure in Mississippi, Arkansas (RN, RRT, or Paramedic), or Emergency Medical Personnel (TN/AR/MS).
• Must weigh 240 pounds or less (including 10–15 lbs. of flight gear).

Supervision

Provides leadership and oversight for associates in Transfer Center and Pedi Flite. Directly or indirectly supervises assigned staff.

Physical Demands

• Physical activities: Climbing, pushing, standing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, repetitive motion.
• Medium work: Exerting up to 50 lbs. occasionally and/or 25 lbs. frequently.
• Visual acuity: Close vision for patient assessment, data analysis, computer work, and reading.
• Frequent patient contact (invasive/non-invasive), exposure to body fluids and hazardous materials.
• Ability to react quickly in emergency situations.
