About the role
Provides medical nutrition therapy using evidence-based practice to optimize patient care. Consults with the healthcare team to ensure efficient and effective nutrition care to patients. Monitors and evaluates patient care and nutrition outcomes on an ongoing basis. Educates patients, healthcare members, dietetic interns, and members of the community. Participates in ongoing process improvement activities with the Nutrition Services Department. Maintains a customer service, patient-centered approach at all times.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care using medical nutrition therapy for assigned patient population.
- Develops and conducts education programs for patients, physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, students, peers, and the public.
- Serves as preceptor for dietetic interns.
- Completes nutrition assessments for all assigned patients, which may include a Nutrition Focused Physical Assessment as indicated, to determine appropriate nutrition diagnosis.
- Provides appropriate intervention based on assessment and nutrition diagnosis.
- Documents relevant, accurate, and timely information in the patient's electronic health record.
- Develops and implements an individualized portfolio plan based on performance indicators that demonstrates professional growth and development, the basis for maintaining required competencies in practice.
- May perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited program in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related fields (Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree).
- Completed CDR-approved dietetic internship to qualify to take the registered exam leading to Registered Dietitian, or entry-level Dietitian may be Registration eligible.
- Basic computer skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Pay
FLAT RATE $40 / Hour
