About the role

Texas Children’s is seeking a Clinical Dietitian II to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will provide nutritional assessments, care plan development, and management of pediatric patient needs across the continuum. Responsibilities

  • Provides age-appropriate assessments and reassessments of all patients identified at nutrition risk, including malnutrition, weight management, diabetes management, and education, following established guidelines.
  • Adapts nutrition plans to meet the specific needs of patients, considering economic, social, cultural, and age-appropriate factors.
  • Affirms learning needs and readiness to learn for patients and families, and facilitates educational opportunities for staff and students.
  • Participates in the orientation and training of clinical nutrition staff, overseeing key areas and essential competencies.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to integrate and communicate nutrition principles that enhance patient outcomes.
  • Engages in interdisciplinary rounds and care management meetings, coordinating the implementation of the nutrition care plan.
  • Coordinates and transitions care across the continuum, including home care coordination of products and supplies.
  • Implements and utilizes hospital-approved handoff techniques to facilitate seamless patient handoffs to different care providers.

Qualifications

  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) certification from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • Licensed Dietitian (LD) certification from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLAR).
  • Four years of experience as a registered dietitian in nutrition.
  • Two years of experience in pediatric nutrition preferred.
  • Possession of preferred certifications: CDCES (Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist), CCTD (Certified Clinical Transplant Dietitian), NATCO (The Organization for Donation and Transplant Professionals).
