About the role
This position is a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, responsible for the provision of medical nutrition therapy for assigned patient populations. The Clinical Dietitian collaborates with the Culinary Services department to ensure patient nutrition needs are met, functions as a community resource for nutrition information and education, and actively participates in team managerial functions.
Responsibilities
- Consult with patients on nutritional needs
- Assist with development and implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services
- Assist with recommendations on sufficient number of qualified and competent staff to provide department services
- Assist with patient diets
- Maintain registered dietitian (RD) status
- Assist with in-service education for the Culinary Services department
- Collaborate with the Neonatologist/NNP to plan diets that meet the special needs of neonates and infants
- Demonstrate knowledge of TJC and Medicare standards affecting nutritional services
- Prioritize responsibilities and handle multiple projects simultaneously
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food and Nutrition
- Must be a Registered Dietitian and maintain active status with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Must have an active Dietitian license with the state of Texas
- BLS/CPR Certification (upon hire or within 90 days of employment)
Qualifications
- Knowledgeable of the principles and practices of Dietetics and Nutrition
- 1-2 years pediatric or neonatal experience
- Preferred active membership in the American Dietetic Association
- Demonstrate competent administrative and leadership skills
- Demonstrate knowledge of the development and nutrition needs of neonates, infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
